O czasopiśmie
Aims and Scope
The journal “Social Communication Ethics” aims to disseminate research on social communication ethics in its broadest sense, including axiological, psychological, sociological, technological and legal aspects. Due to the international character of the journal, all texts will be published in English and will address the issue of social communication ethics from both global and local perspectives. Approaching the title issue in different geographical, political and social contexts is one of the editorial objectives.
History of the Journal
The journal “Social Communication Ethics” has been published since March 2025. It is a quarterly journal published at the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow. The initiator of the publication of the journal on ethics and social communication was the late Rev. Michał Drożdż, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, where, prior to the establishment of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, research and teaching activities in this field were conducted at the Institute of Journalism, Media and Social Communication. The idea of creating such a quarterly was also close to the hearts of the Institute's distinguished staff, above all the Walery Pisarek and Jerzy Jastrzębski.
Open Access and Policy
The journal is published on an open access basis so that its resources can be freely used while respecting the authors' copyright. Readers are required to follow the common citation and source citation rules as for print publications. All texts are available under a CC-BY licence: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License.
Fees
Authors are not required to pay an article submission or publication fee.
Double anonymous peer review
Initial screening is done by the Editorial Board. If the subject is appropriate, all submissions to be considered for publication in the Articles section will be subject to a double anonymous peer review process, i.e. the reviewers will not know the identity of the author(s) and the author(s) will not know the identity of the reviewers (each article will be sent to two reviewers, that are independent of the authors, i.e. not affiliated with the same institution). All other submissions to the journal will be subject to review by the Editorial Board.
The Ethics and Malpractice
To prevent ghostwriting and guest authorship, the editorial staff requires that the input of each author be disclosed, in particular the authorship of the concept, assumptions, methods and relevant passages. The editorial staff must also be informed of the sources from which the publication has been financed. Since ghostwriting and guest authorship are manifestations of the lack of scholarly diligence, the authors of articles are requested to submit statements to the editorial staff concerning the professional and financial input of entities which have contributed to the publication. In cases of suspected or alleged misconduct, we will follow the COPE flowcharts.
Anti-Plagiarism
Each submission undergoes a plagiarism check using Crossref Similarity Check, powered by iThenticate, prior to the review process. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism will be rejected.
Archiving
This journal utilizes the LOCKSS and CLOCKSS systems to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.
