Il problema centrale di questa dissertazione è: in quale modo i fedeli che vivono nelle situazioni matrimoniali irregolari possono essere ammessi alla sacra comunione? Loro devono impengarsi di vivere come fratello e sorella davanti il parroco cioè al foro esterno oppure basta che lo faciano davanti il confessore cioè al foro interno? L’autore partendo dall’analisi storica della problematica e successivamente facendo l’analisi puntuale della normativa attuale e della pratica della Chiesa conclude che l’atto dell’ammissione alla sacra comunione può essere di un’atto del foro interno.
