Abstract

The attitude of poverty as a sign of human faith and mercy towards the poor. An analytical study of Pope Leo XIV’s apostolic exhortation  Dilexi te

The primary goal of this study was to present the concept of the attitude of poverty and demonstrate its role in the process of self-fulfillment for a person living and acting in a specific historical reality. This goal was achieved, in accordance with the principles of methodology, in five stages. First, the situation of human poverty in the current reality and the attitudes of others were presented. It was noted that an uncontrollable desire to possess material goods by a person results in self-absorption and insensitivity to the needs of others, ultimately leading to disproportion and inequality between people and nations. This situation became the basis for reflection on the need to shape the attitude of poverty among people. These activities, in accordance with the constituent elements of an attitude that has three dimensions to its value: intellectual-cognitive, emotional-evaluative, and behavioral, were conducted in the following three sections, resulting in a comprehensive definition of the attitude of poverty as a person’s sensitivity to those in need. The final stage concerned showing the influence of people living an attitude of poverty on building a more humane world, and the greatest example of this are the saints and blessed whom the Church has raised to the glory of the altars.

Key words:
