Author Biography

  • Marcin Konik, The Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw

    Marcin Konik – Dr, graduated in philosophy and musicology from the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. He is the head of the Chopin Institute Library in Warsaw. He was granted a doctorate on the grounds of a treatise on the cosmological themes, with a special focus on Boethius’s musica mundana concept, in medieval music treatises. He has held scholarships to such prestigious academic centres as Jacob’s School of Music at the Indiana University in Bloomington and the Faculty of Music of Stanford University. He cooperates among others with Stanford University’s Center for Computer Assisted Research in the Humanities. In his research, Marcin Konik focuses on the issues of computer-assisted music analysis, music databases, and digitalisation projects. His specialty is the study of Polish music sources from the 17th to the 19th centuries.
