Twórczość Artapanosa – teza o synkretyzmie diaspory aleksandryjskiej

W niniejszym tekście przedstawiono wnioski z kontekstowej analizy pisma O Żydach Artapanosa. Specyfika twórczości tego aleksandryjskiego autora polega na plastycznym ukazaniu niespotykanego nigdzie indziej oblicza diaspory. Artapanos bowiem usiłuje przekonać czytelnika o bliskości dziedzictwa żydowskiego oraz tak kultury egipskiej, jak i hellenistycznej. Jego Mojżesz, ukształtowany na modłę herosa, jest ukazany jako największy dobroczyńca ludzkości jako takiej, głównie zaś jako bohater Egiptu. Spośród różnych możliwych interpretacji fenomenu twórczości Artapanosa niniejsze studium wskazuje na prawdopodobną tezę o synkretycznym nastawieniu jakiejś części diaspory aleksandryjskiej. Stanowiliby ją Żydzi, którzy żyli w przekonaniu o wierności swej tradycji, a jednocześnie chłonęli kulturę hellenistyczną i z życzliwością odnosili się do Egipcjan.
