Celebrations of the 10th anniversary of regaining independence in the Dąbrowa Basin, in the light of „Kurier Zachodni – Iskra”

Celebrations of the 10th anniversary of regaining independence of Poland are an opportunity to study a social and patriotic mood among contemporary people who witnessed the processes of regeneration of the Second Polish Republic. Analysing the press of the Dąbrowa Basin from 1928, and more exactly the organ press „Western Courier – The Spark” we can find out what preparations to the celebrations the decade of existence of Poland in such cities as Będzin, Sosnowiec or Dąbrowa Górnicza looked like. Researches seem to be more interesting as the celebrations took place on Sunday, what in practice permitted to stretch all the ceremonies for two weekend days. In the Dąbrowa Basin the opportunity was used to organize many events; even in smaller places, on 10th and 11th November, 1928 the anniversary was celebrated. The celebrations were organized by specially called committees and caused huge satisfaction among people. Residents actively participated in many events such as solemn celebrations, academies and other entertainments. All the events reflected patriotism and general joy of affiliation to the Polish state.References
