Abstrakt

The paper deals with a conception of the philosophy of history by a Russian philosopher of the first half of the twentieth century Simon Frank. It traces the evolution of Frank’s enquiries that generalize social science and demonstrates the place of social philosophy in his philosophical system. The paper considers correlation between social philosophy, philosophy of history and history as a science. It also represents Frank’s critique of historical relativism, theories of progress, determinism, rationalism and social utopianism. It demonstrates methodological significance of social ontology as spiritual being for historical science and the philosophy of history. The paper also examines Frank’s positions concerning the regularities of socio-historical life, teleologism in social life, the historical role of revolutions and wars, as well as the correlation between the philosophy of history and Christian eschatology.
