This article has been taken to reflect on the present consecrated virgins. After presenting the specifics of consecrated virgins living in the world, there were shown the characteristics of monastic spirituality, with particular attention to the lack of a secondary objective, the privileged place of prayer in the life of monks realized in two forms: liturgical prayer and private prayer, stability of life in the community and living from their own work. The question of monastic theology was signaled as well. All these aspects were considered in the context of consecrated virgins.
In the section on the prayer of consecrated virgins there were discussed liturgical prayer (Mass, confession and spiritual direction, Liturgy of the Hours) and private prayer (Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, reading of Scripture and meditation, a special devotion to Mary).
The whole article ends with the suggestions for consecrated virgins inspired by monastic spirituality.
