Influence of Saints and Masters of Faith on the person and teaching of Joseph Ratzinger — Benedict XVI

The objective of this article is to show the influence of selected saints and masters of faith on the person and teaching of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger — Benedict XVI. It attempts to analyse the teachings of Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger and his theological speeches as Pope Benedict XVI in terms of the relationship between ecclesiology and holiness. The article consists of four sections. In the first section, Benedict XVI’s close relationship with the truly Holy God and the only Source of all holiness was shown. Then, the reality of communio sanctorum and Joseph Ratzinger’s bond with the saints were discussed. In the third section, the teaching of Benedict XVI on the lives of saints was referred to. In turn, the last section discusses the liturgy of the Church, which according to Benedict XVI has a key task on the way to achieving holiness.
