Abstract

The town of Dubno on the Ikva river near Lutsk in Volhynia is known for the former residence of the Ostrogski ordinates. In addition to the Parish Church of St John of Nepomuk, at the beginning of the 17th c. the Ostrogski family funded a monastery for the Bernardines, along with the Immaculate Conception BVM Church. With a privilege granted in Lublin on 5 June 1688, Józef Karol Lubomirski and his wife Teofila Ludwika bequeathed an area of land in their castle orchard to Carmelite Sisters for a church and a monastery.
