Abstract

Priest Wtadysla'w Chotkowski, professor at the Faculty of Theology of the Jagiellonian University, was one of the most outstanding Polish preachers at the turn of the 20th century. The article presents one of Chotkowski’s sermons on the feast day of St. Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr, which was preached on May 8, 1901 in the Wawel Cathedral. The published material is meritorious for its up-to-date ecclesiology, open treatment of the subject of martyrdom of St. Stanislaus and excellent reference to the contemporary situation. The text of the sermon is included in the volume devoted to the history of the worship of St. Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr.
