When singing, three fundamental components are always involved: breathing, phonation and articulation. These are not only interdependent but are also influenced by the singer’s mental state and physical condition. An important element is the level of musicality and auditory perception. Taking a holistic approach to vocal training (with an awareness of the interconnections between these aspects), this text presents examples of situations in which body posture or movement can influence breathing function and, consequently, the quality of vocal performance, including improved intonation. The text is based on personal experience from fifty years of teaching practice.
