Achille Ratti, who later became Pope Pius XI, has recently attracted great interest among historians. He is one of the outstanding figures in the history of the Church, including the Church in Poland on the verge of independence, where he stayed first as a visitor and then as an apostolic nuncio (1919–1921). The found letters he addressed to Ignacy Dub-Dubowski, the bishop of Lutsk-Zytomyr, are published here. They concern both ecclesiastical matters and express personal ties between the nuncio and this bishop. I managed to find them in one of Rome’s antique shops in 2005. They are written in Latin, French and Italian. Based on these letters, this edition has been prepared.
