This article aims to present the liturgical meaning of the act of anointing and coronating Christian emperors on the example of the self-proclaimed Byzantine emperor Jan Cantacuzen and the king of Serbia, Dušan Nemanjić. Both of these rulers played an important role in the medieval history of Byzantium and the Kingdom of Serbia.References
