Iza Delekta-Wicińska was born in 1921, in Wadowice and died in 2023 in Krakow. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, and at the same time, she studied at the State Higher Theatre School in Krakow, obtaining a degree in acting. For many years, as an actress at the Bagatela Theatre, she also performed at the Rozmaitości Theatre and the Young Audience Theatre. Her paintings have won numerous awards in competitions in Poland and abroad. One of her favourite motifs was Krakow. She expressed her fascination with this city in many works created using various techniques: oil on canvas, watercolour, gouache, as well as woodcut, linocut, and drawing. She created self-portraits, family portraits, theatrical portraits, religious paintings, still lifes, genre scenes, nudes, landscapes, and seascapes. Her oeuvre is characterized by the ease with which she moved between realism and expressive forms verging on abstraction.
