Devotional prints from the collection of Fr. Mieczysław Kluz OCD in the holdings of the Ethnographic Museum in Kraków

In 1968 the Ethnographic Museum in Kraków bought a collection of small devotional prints collected by Father Mieczysław Kluz. The images were previously owned by nuns and monks from various congregations. There are about 1,500 German, Dutch, French, Italian, and Polish engravings from the 17th and 18th centuries, printed on paper or parchment, The authors of the graphics are often famous engravers. Hagiographic, Christological, and Mariological representations dominate. Some of them are connected with places of worship in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The collection also includes a series of emblematic representations, illustrated prayers, popular church hymns, and permanent liturgical calendars. The reverse sides of the images are noteworthy. Many of them have interesting, handwritten texts: prayers, dedications, and reflections. They are a valuable testimony to the spirituality of the users of the prints and to monastic customs.
