Happiness in purchasing. “Self‑consuming passion“ of consumer society

The article talks about happiness issue in consumer society. First, author describes consumer society and transition from manufactures society to consumer society. Next author writes about new style of life, new understanding of the concept of happiness in consumer society. In that author uses a specific term – self‑consuming passion, which first was used by Richard Sennett, in his book The culture of the new capitalism. Upon that, author talks about motor of fashion and planned obsolescence. This two issue strengths self‑consuming passion. At the end, author proposes critical reflection about meaning happiness in consumer society and urges to restrain consumption and reject positive value of possessed things.References
