The vocation of every baptized person is a mission. Acceptance of the Good News and bearing witness are the foundations of a spiritual life. This is especially true for consecrated persons. Their specific mission is to be a pilgrim of hope. The contemporary world needs hope in the form of Jesus Christ. To be a pilgrim of hope is to be a herald of the Good News. Consecrated persons bring hope to contemporary humans, who are immersed in a specific hopelessness. The consecrated persons do this primarily through the pastoral care of presence — presence with another person who is thirsty for love.
