The Formation of Presbyters for the Extraordinary Pastoral Care

The formation of presbyters for the extraordinary pastoral care has its own specificity which results from particular kind of the pastoral activity of the Church in that area. It is addressed to the properly selected clergymen who are bestowed with the skills enabling them to undertake such an activity. The article is based on existing sources, the contemporary teaching of the Church and the literature on the discussed subject. These sources imply research methods such as: content analysis method, source analysis and the like. The article consists of five parts, which cover the problem of selecting candidates for extraordinary pastoral care (1) and the dimensions of permanent formation: human (2), spiritual (3), intellectual (4) and pastoral (5). The fundamental conclusion that results from the conducted analysis is the following: it is necessary to carry out this kind of formation at a properly high level which is adapted to the pastoral challenges and to the needs and expectations of the recipients of various fields of the extraordinary pastoral care.
